vancouver biodiesel cooperative
The Vancouver Biodiesel Cooperative (the “Co-op”) is a BC registered not-for-profit cooperative association that provides retail biodiesel distribution to its members. We provide conscious choice for members to take stewardship over our climate change conundrum, inner-city air-pollutants, global oil depletion and related problems.
The lovely Daryl Hannah bought Dr. Suzuki a Co-op Membership during her recent visit.who we are
We are a group of environmentally conscious biologists, students, working human beings, lawyers, farmers, professors and small business owners, who are committed to supporting renewable, locally produced, vegetable-based alternative fuels. We work collaboratively to bridge the gap between our energy consumption demands and the reality of climate change through innovation, market development and supply.
what we do
Membership in the Co-op allows members the privilege of a fueling experience quite different from the status quo. Members pay a nominal membership fee and pre-pay for 100 Litres of biodiesel. They are asked to sign a waiver and undertaking to use no more than a B50 blend (for road-tax exemption purposes). They are then given a key to the trailer tote, informed of its location and shown how to self-record their usage manually. Co-op management tracks consumption and requests pre-payment from members on an ongoing basis.

Members of the Co-op have the following rights:
Upon enrolment of a new member, The Vancouver Biodiesel Cooperative
New members enjoying their first biodiesel experience. expansion
The Co-op would like to expand to create the infrastructure, demand and supply for our coined “Biodiesel Highway” running from Vancouver through Whistler. We are partnering with fueling stations and other organizations throughout Vancouver and along the Sea-to-Sky corridor to provide B100 fueling totes and biodiesel blends at the pump. We will provide ongoing supply and support to the Biodiesel Highway with a pump-truck carrying B100 biodiesel.
Members and others will be able to fill their diesel vehicles (including VW TDIs, Smart Cars, Mercedes, Volvos, Trucks of all kinds…) with biodiesel and biodiesel blends anywhere along the Biodiesel Highway. Our membership growth to date has been rapid and astonishing. People literally stop other diesel drivers in the street to tell them about biodiesel, and the Co-op.
